भारत में जंग से ज्यादा सैनिक शांतिकाल में जान गंवा रहे हैं. मीडिया रिपोर्ट में सैनिकों की अप्राकृतिक मौतों के आंकड़े देते हुए यह दावा किया गया है. 2022 में रक्षा मंत्रालय ने राज्यसभा में एक सवाल के जवाब में बताया था कि तीनों सेनाओं में पिछले पांच वर्षों में 819 आत्महत्याएं रिपोर्ट हुई हैं. इनमें 642 आत्महत्याएं आर्मी, 148 एयर फोर्स और 29 नेवी में हुई हैं.
